Abstract

The research aim was to describe the environment of a technological innovation awarded, contemplating the objective, the reasons and the challenges faced, as well as the results obtained in the forensic activities and its possible contributions to public safety and society. A case study was carried out with descriptive research and a qualitative approach, based on semi-structured interviews, carried out virtually, with all public servants who participated in the project to create the Quantitative Survey Module for forensic purposes in the legal engineering of Forensic Unit in Paraíba of Federal Police, awarded at iNOV-PF. The collected data were submitted to thematic categorical content analysis. Eight reasons were identified that boosted the development of innovation (eg: need to improve work; sample of standardized works), 17 different challenges for the development of innovation (eg: difficulty in reconciling work demands and extra effort to development); six difficulties in use (eg, lack of familiarity with the new tool); 19 results obtained with the use of the tool (eg: time reduction, greater precision and quality in the work); nine possible contributions of technological innovation to public security (eg, reduction of impunity for crimes, social gain). The article contributes to reporting variables that influenced the development of an experience that won an innovation award in organizational processes at Brazilian Federal Police, in addition to the gains obtained and possible contributions to public safety, demonstrating the effects of innovation in the services provided and in the generation of public value. It is hoped that the experience will contribute to fostering the development of other innovations in the public sector.

Graduated in Business Administration in 2002 (UniCEUB), with academic merit award granted by CRA-DF, Specialist in Human Resources Management in 2004 (FGV-Núcleo Brasília), Master in Organizational Studies and People Management in 2016 (PPGA - UnB) and PhD in Administration in 2021 (Area of ​​Innovation and Skills in the Public Sector - PPGA/UnB). She has experience in Consulting, Research and Teaching in the area of ​​Administration, with emphasis on People Management, Competency Management, Training and Development, Process Management, Risk Management, Project Management, Diagnosis and Organizational Structuring. She participated as a researcher at the Impact Group at UnB (from 2011 to 2018) and participates as a researcher at the Government Innovation and Strategy Laboratory - LineGov|UnB (since 2014), at the People and Customer Management Research Group - GP2C/UnB ( since 2018) and GEDOT/UFMA (since 2019). She currently also serves as vice-coordinator of LineGOV | UnB. She has teaching experience in technical, technological and MBA courses, as well as training for institutions such as FGV, ESAF, IFB and UnB. She currently serves as a professor at the IDP.
