Posted on 2022-12-09The Brazilian Journal of Police Sciences, linked to the Graduate Program of the Higher Police School, of the National Police Academy (ANP/PF), after being accepted into Elsevier's international indexing database, Scopus, at the beginning of year, finally had the indexing process completed in November 2022.
Scopus is one of the most relevant databases of abstracts and citations of peer-reviewed literature in the world, covering scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. It prioritizes "superior data quality and comprehensiveness, sophisticated analytics and advanced technology in a single solution, ready to combat predatory publications, optimize the power of analytics and researchers' workflows, and enable better decisions to be made".
The indexing request was made in 2021, after more than 10 years of creation of the journal and substantial changes promoted, especially from 2020, including its graphic design, editorial team, editorial board, internal regulation, always with the with the aim of increasing the organization and quality of the content it makes available, in addition to meeting the strictest national and international requirements for publishing academic and scientific research.
The indexing of RBCP in Scopus is the international recognition of the efforts undertaken over the last few years towards superior and high quality academic development, especially in the areas of Police Sciences, Public Security and the Criminal Justice System. RBCP is now alongside the best national and foreign journals, which is expected to also have a positive impact on future CAPES assessments.
In addition to Scopus, in recent years RBCP has been systematically indexed in more than 40 national and international databases and libraries, a process that increases the visibility of published research, allows the calculation of bibliometric indicators, such as the Impact Factor and the H index of the journal, which serve, among other things, to evaluate researchers and publications.
